The Summer Equinox / Solstice

The summer equinox is also called the Solstice, It marks the first day of the season of summer in the northern hemisphere. This year the summer solstice falls on Tuesday December the 22nd at exactly 2.49pm (GMT+10) Summer Solstice results in the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The Sun exerts its’ maximum power at the Solstice because the tilt of the Earth’s axis makes the Sun’s rays most nearly parallel on that date at points in the Northern hemisphere. The time is here to complete external physical manifestation and all energies are about exerting the will. In ancient times it was considered a time of fullness of life, worldly blessings and celebration.

Not much has changed today in how we look at summer. We see it as a time of vacations, play, celebration, fun, joviality, parties, and barbecues with family and friends at the beach or park. Days are longer which gives us more time to enjoy the sun and soak in its warmth. The Summer Solstice celebrates the joy, warmth and laughter of summer; and universal power. The beginning of summer represents a time for purification, renewal of the self, a time to release the sadness, fears and pains from your life. A time for purification and renewed energy.

For couples: it is also a time for renewing the bonds of love that brought the two of you together in the first place. Remember that song from the 1978 movie “Grease” with Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta called “Summer Nights”…the amazing feelings of youthful passionate love…bu-ut oh, those su-ummer nights….). With renewed energy of the Summer Solstice all things are possible.

For those of you who are single, it is a time to renew you commitment to find your true love. Since the summer is a time for external physical manifestations then why not include manifesting the ‘right’ person to love? Then your summertime celebration will have even more meaning with a special someone to share it with.

The Solstice is a day to see the Creator in everyone you come in contact with and to recognize their divinity along with the recognition of your own self. John the Baptist is the recognized saint for the Summer Solstice. The belief is that summer solstice is for renewal, which needs to be a renewed commitment to the universe and to ourselves.

Ancient Pagans celebrated Midsummer with bonfires, when couples would leap through the flames, believing their crops would grow as high as the couples were able to jump.

The summer Equinox, solstice happens once a year. In this world we live in today it is important that we work with these energies, the universal energies. It is at these special times of change over during an equinox that we can tune in and make the changes in our lives with much more power than at any other time. We can work with these energies to empower our thoughts and desires and magnify what we would like to manifest in the coming months. The energy that is present during this special time is VERY powerful. This is a wonderful time that you can give thanks to mother earth.

Use this special power to delve within your subconscious to unearth your dreams and aspirations for the future.

As part of Sarah’s way therapy I have devised a ceremony that I have been using and sharing with others over the past years and the results are just amazing. I want to share my findings and work with you so that you too can use this special energy to manifest all you desire in this life time. The Summer Solstice ceremony is an extremely powerful ritual.

During this time it is a celebration. So, start today to prepare for this special time. The Equinox Ceremony Sarah’s Way…

The preparation;

• Make a list of everything that you would like to manifest. Write as if you already have it. Be precise and be sure you want what you ask for. Be excited, it’s like writing your very own early Christmas list to the universe.

• At the top of your page write; “I know that You hear me, and are here for me whenever I am in need, pray or call upon You, Divine God, Divine Goddess, Shekena, God The Father Almighty, Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit, Christed Beings, Buddhas, Angels, Elementals, Blessed Ones, Ancient Ones, Star People, Brotherhood of Light, Power Animals, Saints, Shaman, my own higher self and Spirits of the Land who have come in the Love of Buddha, and the Light of Maria and Christ. With your help and the power of this equinox I manifest the below if it be in divine order and to the highest good of all.

At the end of your list write,

I thank all those who worked with me and the universe for letting me use this amazing equinox energy .So mote it be, So mote it be , So mote it be. So it is done.

• Make these headings:-Me, Family, Relationship, Work/Business, The world, and any others you feel you would like to add. Then under each heading write exactly what you want for example; Me I have increased my fitness, and joined a running group. I have more confidence about myself……… Relationship My relationship is amazing .We are working together …. The world All ll the fighting in Afghanistan has stopped and there is a world peace campaign. Make your lists as long or as short as you need too.

• Collect/gather 5 things either stones, crystals, shells or any other item that is from mother earth and small enough that you can carry around with you for the next few days/weeks. By carrying/having these with you, you can energise them with your energy so, try to keep them in your bag, near you, at home and work. Hold them, play with them, make them yours and special to you (I will call your chosen object a stone in the ceremony).

So by Tuesday you will have your list ready and have your 5 objects. The exact time is 2.49pm so if possible this is the best time to do the ceremony but, on the day at some point as close to that time will work too. I would like you to go somewhere in nature your garden, the beach, anywhere you feel right for you. I want you to feel confident to sit in meditation so keep this in mind a packed beach is not the best place!

You will need a lighter or matches. If you have been on the Sarah’s way programme then you may have all ready learnt how to use a medicine wheel. If not, we will conduct the ceremony in a basic medicine wheel built from 5 objects. I have practiced and researched many different religions each has its own sacred space. Christians a church, Buddhists an altar ….well the Native Americans and shamans use a medicine wheel. I use ancient shamanic tradition with a Sarah touch and well like all my therapies it just works!!!!

The ceremony

Go to your chosen quiet place with your list, objects and lighter. Face north and “call in” the medicine wheel, it will be a small square of 4 stones placed in the 4 earth directions and big enough for you to sit in with a stone in the middle.

Face north and say Spirit keeper of the north come, come into this medicine wheel. Place the stone down on the ground. Then walk towards the east

Face east and say Spirit keeper of the east come, come into this medicine wheel. Place the stone down on the ground. Then walk towards the south…

Face south and say Spirit keeper of the south come, come into this medicine wheel. Place the stone down on the ground. Then walk towards the west…

Face west and say Spirit keeper of the west come, come in to this medicine wheel. Place the stone down on the ground. Then walk into the centre of the stones… Sit in the centre and place the last stone in the middle and ask mother earth to come, come to be the centre of your medicine wheel… Sit there for a few moments and just connect with this special energy.

Then read your list out loud … When you have finished, take the lighter and burn your list, by burning we are sending it express post up to the universe. You can bury the ashes or let them blow in the wind, your choice.

Sit for a few moments and thank the medicine wheel for working with you. Now be excited your work is done, enjoy the rest of the day and try and stay in constant positive energy.

The medicine wheel can be picked up in any order and objects kept for another ceremony.

Happy equinox, Enjoy, Love, Light and laughter, Sarah
